The Scientific Writing Workshop OH-TARGET, Bogota 2024 was aimed at facilitating and promoting the publication of research results, especially those activities conducted under the One Health approach and within the OH-TARGET project.
Between July 22nd and 26th, the workshop was held in Bogotá, Colombia. The purpose of this workshop was to facilitate and stimulate the publication of research results conducted by the CIHLMU network in Latin America under the One Health approach, especially those activities developed within the framework of OH-TARGET. It was aimed at researchers from the network, alumni, postgraduate students, and/or teachers from associated universities who have participated in projects under the One Health approach.
Representatives from the One Health teams of partner universities were invited: Universidad San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca (USFX), Bolivia; Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC), Guatemala; Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR), Brazil; Universidad de O´Higgins, Chile; and researchers from the CIHLMU .
Prior to the in-person activities, participants completed an 8-week pre-course on the CIHLMU Moodle platform, with the aim of reviewing some aspects of scientific writing such as literature search, planning, progress in the writing process, and biostatistics, learning new content or reviewing the already known content and applying it to their own research.
Out of the 12 participants, 5 were from Bolivia, 1 from Guatemala, 1 from Brazil, 2 from Chile, 1 from Ecuador, and 2 from Germany. The gender distribution was 10 female and 2 males, with an average age of 41.2 years. The overall rating for the workshop was 9.2 (on a scale of 1 to 10). There was reported widespread satisfaction in items related to content selection, workshop structure, coordination and organization of the workshop, teamwork, tutor competence, and support.
We appreciate the support of Universidad del Rosario, a local member of the CIHLMU network in Latin America, for their coordination of hotel and transportation logistics. Additionally, during the event week, we were honored to have the presence of Prof. Ángela Espinoza Aranzales and Prof. Sonia Maya Fajardo, representing the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the university.
We congratulate the researchers participating in the workshop and look forward to their publications!
