We are pleased to announce the beginning of the 2024 Academic Teacher and Training Course (ATTC) in Curitiba, Brazil. It was carried out at the Federal University of Paraná, in Curitiba, Brazil, under the coordination of Professor Sonia Raboni and the participation of professors Denise Carvalho and Edison Tizzot from the medicine course at this university. ATTC aims to develop teaching skills and prepare for different roles as teachers in the health sector. Prof Matthias Siebeck, with his vast experience in education at the Faculty of Medicine at LMU Munich and his work in the area, both nationally and internationally, will be the main advisor of the Course, in partnership with Veronica Encina from the CIHLMU .
The course began on the 19th of July in its first online activity, consisting of a preliminary phase of registrations, presentations and a Kick-off Meeting, after the formal presentation of the ATTC to the Coordinators and Heads of the Department of the Medicine Course on the 25th of June 2024. During this period, until September, pre-course activities were developed. In total, 24 professors participated, 19 from the Federal University of Paraná, 2 from the University of Rosário, in Bogotá, Colombia; 2 from the San Francisco de Chuquisaca University, from Sucre, Bolivia and one participant from Quito, Ecuador. The week of the in-person course in Curitiba took place from September 16th to 20th with an extensive program. Later, from September to December, participants will have the opportunity to put what they have learned into practice and the course will end with an Online Symposium. Faced with so many challenges to improving the quality of teaching in the health sector, the CIHLMU and partners are very optimistic about this opportunity and new perspectives for interaction and learning between professors in the area and from different universities in Latin America and Germany.
