  • Francesco Nicoli I CRASH CAGE

    Dr. Francesco Nicoli has a 12-year experience in the field of immunology and T-cell immunomodulation of infectious diseases. He has been involved in the development of two vaccine candidates against Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) as well as in the study of T-cell dysfunctions in infectious diseases. After obtaining his PhD at CIHLMU , he has focused his attention on immunosenescence and immunometabolism, identifying the association between fatty acid metabolism and altered T-cell activation. He also has 26 publications in international peer-reviewed journals to his credit. In the CRASH CAGE project, he seeks to exploit his experience and technical expertise to improve the knowledge on COVID-19 immunopathogenesis and therapies, particularly on characterizing primary responses to COVID-19 in the elderly.

  • Carlos Gonzales I ECOH

    Carlos Gonzales, environmental engineer, and teacher at USFX, has training in Environmental Management, Safety and Occupational Health, Higher Education and Research, and Tutorial Training. Additionally, He is an environmental activist and member of different initiatives, including Environmental Sciences of a STEAM educational project in Bolivia called "Peque Innova" (National coordinator), "Bolivia Platform for Action against Climate Change (PBACC)" and Citizens Ambassadors Agenda 2030 - 2020 Program and is a beginning researcher in the area of solid waste.

  • Rachel Vicente I JITOHealth

    Prof. Dr. Creuza Rachel Vicente is an expert in epidemiology and her primary research focuses on investigating emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. Since her doctoral studies at CIHLMU , she has also been coordinating and collaborating with international research and educational initiatives with various countries' partners. She is currently a professor at the Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (UFES) where she teaches Epidemiology and Public Health Policy at the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Occupational Therapy. She is also a professor at the Graduate Program in Infectious Diseases (PPGDI - UFES). Apart from her roles, she is a certified EpiCore member. She also leads the outreach project, One Health Espírito Santo, and is a regional representative of One Health Brazil.

  • Ahmed Zeynudin Kasim I The Role of Khat

    Dr. Ahmed Zeynudin Kasim currently serves as the Academic and Research Chief Director of the Institute of Health, Jimma University in Ethiopia. He is a CIHLMU alumnus (PhD Medical Research -International Health) and conducted his doctoral thesis on antibiotic resistance. He is also an Associate Professor of Medical parasitology and International Health at Jimma University, with an extensive research experience, having more than 48 publications on infectious diseases.

  • Eshetu Girma I Mobile Health App

    Dr. Eshetu Girma is a Public Health Professional and an Associate Professor at the School of Public Health at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. In 2015, he completed his PhD in Medical Research - International Health at the CIHLMU with the topic of stigma against people with mental illness in Ethiopia. He has broad experience in leading and co-investigating nationally and internationally funded research and projects and has multiple publications in international research journals. He also won the Ethiopian Public Health Association Young Researcher Award, and together with Sandra Dehning, the DGPPN- anti-stigma Award for their work on stigma against mental illness in the rural areas of Ethiopia.

  • Maria Teresa Solis Soto I One Health Knowledge Café

    Dr. Solis Soto is a Medical Doctor, Epidemiologist, Public Health Tutor and CIHLMU alumna. In Bolivia, she has been involved as a teacher and project tutor in International Occupational Safety and Health in different postgraduate programs. Maria Teresa is also a member of the Health Science Institute at Universidad de O’Higgins in Rancagua, Chile, where she conducts research and undergraduate teaching for students of Medicine, Nursing and Occupational Therapy. She is also part of the tutoring staff for the online tutoring course developed by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and responsible for the Global Health consultant office. Currently, she is responsible for the OH-TARGET Competence Center of CIHLMU at the Universidad San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca (USFX), Bolivia.

  • Maria Fernanda Bauleo I MoDiTeM

    María Fernanda Bauleo, a CIHLMU – Latin America member, is a professor at the Argentinian Catholic University, University of Buenos Aires and University of the Americas, Ecuador. She is also currently the Head of Hygiene & Safety at Aerolíneas Argentinas. María obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the University of Buenos Aires and then proceeded with a Master’s degree in International Occupational Safety and Health from LMU, Germany. She also has postgraduate specializations in Occupational Hygiene and Safety from the University of Buenos Aires, Environmental Management from the National University of Tres de Febrero and Quality System Management from the Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Industrial (INTI), Argentina and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Qualität (DGQ), Germany, with proficiency in Solid Waste Management from the Technical University of Dresden. Additionally, she is a speaker and author of many books and publications.

  • Andreas Kudom I Psycho Afro Mosquitoes

    Dr. Andreas A. Kudom is a CIHLMU alumnus with a PhD in International Health - Medical Research in 2015. He is also responsible for CIHLMU OH-TARGET Competence Centre in Ghana. He is a senior lecturer at the Department of Conservation Biology and Entomology, University of Cape Coast, Ghana. Additionally, he is a medical entomologist by profession, with a special interest in vector biology and control, particularly on the impact of urbanization and human behaviour on the bio-ecology and insecticide resistance status of mosquitoes.

  • Mario Castro Torres I SBEES

    Dr. Mario Eduardo Castro Torres is Historian and Psychologist, with a specialist degree in Clinical Psychology, a Master’s degree in Health Psychology and a PhD in Humanities, with a mention in History. He is currently pursuing another PhD in Biomedical Sciences. Mario also works as an undergraduate professor and tutor in Psychology, History and Tourism at San Francisco Xavier University (USFX). Additionally, he is a member of the Bolivian Ecclesiastic History Academy and the History, Regions and Frontiers Committee of the Montevideo Group of Universities, which includes public universities from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. Dr. Castro Torres has made most of his published works in Bolivian Colonial History and has for several years worked in research at History and Psychology Careers. Regarding his affiliation to the CIHLMU , he coordinates the SBEES interdisciplinary project: Stingless Bees as an Ecological, Social capital and Public Health richness.
