The CIHLMU Symposium on Global Health Perspectives: Availability of and Access to Quality Data will be held on Friday, 18 March 2022.

W. Edward Deming famously said, β€œIn God we trust. All others must bring data.” Access to high quality data, whether at individual, sub-national and national, regional and global levels is essential to ensure early identification of problems, design of appropriate interventions, and effective implementation and evaluation of outcomes of said interventions. However, data availability, accessibility and quality particularly in healthcare remains a major challenge across various contexts – with multiple fragmented data sources and data collection processes even within the same country(ies). This challenge is exacerbated with multiple parallel and poorly-integrated data sources. Even where data may be readily available, it may not always be accessible, often with complex and unclear processes required by relevant authorities in order to provide access. Finally, quality of available data is often less than ideal, with challenges in completeness, accuracy, and timeliness. These are the salient challenges associated with using data in managing health programs.

This symposium aims to bring together practitioners working in public health, healthcare, policy and research in a variety of contexts to discuss key challenges, lessons learnt and share best practices. Join us to hear from our speakers, who are experts in their fields and context, provide insight on how they overcome these challenges and contribute to the creation of quality data systems across the globe. This symposium is organized by the Ph.D. and Masters students of CIHLMU Center for International Health.

The event is structured as an online Series of presentations by invited Scientists and professionals from across the World; they will join to discuss Key challenges on accessing, availability and sharing data in various contexts and international projects. Additionally, they will provide insightful experience in their fields of expertise.
