We are happy to announce the 11th Global Mental Health Symposium taking place on 23 October 2021 at 9:00 AM (CET) via Zoom.
The topic of the Symposium will be "Mental Health in Developing Countries” and the focus will be on Global Mental Health and Human Rights.
More than half a billion people worldwide suffer from a neuropsychiatric disorder or are dependent on alcohol or drugs. More than 80% of these people live in low-and middle income countries; most of them do not receive appropriate treatment, many are stigmatized and experience prejudice, social exclusion, and violations of their human rights. This symposium will discuss the human rights abuses towards people with mental disorders. Discussants include representatives of patient- and family-organizations, lawyers, anthropologists and psychiatrists. Participation is open to all interested in this topic. You are cordially invited to join!
