One Health Knowledge-Café - Webinar Series #4

Date
30 Sep 2020

The "One Health Knowledge Café" is one of the chosen projects of the One Health Funds 2020. It is a collaborative effort of more than 11 individuals representing the partners and alumni of the Center for International Health ( CIHLMU ) from Asia, Africa, Europe, South America and North America. The project aims to enhance the academic network of CIHLMU experts, partners, alumni and students by organizing monthly virtual webinars, sharing sessions and offering an online course.

The COVID-19 pandemic affected all countries worldwide, limiting people's ability to travel and meet face to face. Hence, the importance of virtual learning and networking increased enormously.

A vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 is claimed as the only solution which could bring our lives back to normality. An unprecedented number of scientists, industries and institutions are currently involved in this quest. The pressure for the discovery of a safe and effective vaccine in a dramatic short-time frame is huge, posing several scientific and ethical challenges.

All these aspects were discussed with Florian Krammer, Barney Graham, Holden Thorp and Mkunde Chachage in the webinar "Vaccine for COVID-19 Updates, Hopes, Issues and Considerations" organized on 30 September 2020. The international panel of top-level experts have guided us through the achievements and challenges of the COVID-19 vaccine research race.

More than 95 participants from 15 countries worldwide had joined the webinar. It was a great success!
