Symposium: Mental Health in Developing Countries

Date
29 Oct 2016

The International Network for Cooperation in Mental Health (i.nez), the Global Mental Health GroupLMU from the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and the Center for International Health CIHLMU , organized the 8th International Symposium on “Global Mental Health – Mental Health in Developing Countries”.

The symposium is open to all health professionals and students interested in this topic.

This year’s symposium focused on mental health issues regarding refugees in Africa and Asia. As long as Europe was not faced with mass migration, it closed its eyes to the situation and problems of refugees in countries like Syria, Colombia, Iraq, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, South Sudan, Pakistan, Nigeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Kenya, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Thailand and others. Not only refugees in Africa and Asia but also most of the local population receive hardly any appropriate treatment for mental disorders.
