What do you need to apply?
The application deadline for participation in the certificate programme is 31 January of each year.
Application Documents
The application consists of filling in the online application form and uploading the following documents:
- Current certificate of enrolment stating that you belong to one of the EUGLOH universities or any other institution within the CIH Network
- Short essay (about 750 words) on a given subject in which the applicant gives an answer to a subject knowledge question. This year's essay topic is: What are the implications of mass vaccinations? Please argue from an multidisciplinary perspective and include a personal opinion.
and either
- (a) Bachelor’s certificate including transcript of records or
- (b) transcript of records of your current studies (min. 180 ECTS or equivalent) for those in study programmes longer than 6 semesters (e.g. Medical school, Law, etc.)

Selection Criteria
Complete applications will be evaluated and ranked according to the following criteria:
Final or Mean Grade
Final Grade (for those with a Bachelor Degree) or Mean Grade from Transcript of Records (Reference: German Grading Scale. For foreign grading systems grades will be converted):
- 1,0 - 1,9: 2 Points
- 2,0 - 2,9: 1 Point
- 3,0 onward: 0 Points
Estimated time until study completion
- More than 2 semesters: 2 Points
- 2 semesters: 1 Point
- Less than 2 semesters: 0 Points
Essay: up to 10 points
- Understanding of Global Health Challenges: 1 point
- Application to the own Local Context: 2 points
- Innovativeness and Creativity: 2 points
- Clarity and Structure: 2 points
- Evidence and Examples: 1 point
- Language and Expression: 2 points
A maximum of 30 students can be newly admitted to the certificate programme each year for the summer semester. If applications exceed the specified maximum number of participants for the certificate programme, the selection of participants is made by the programme management on the basis of selection criteria and allocation per university.
